SEANGP.com - Isotta Fraschini made its WEC debut at the FIA WEC season-opener at Qatar last month and the team are now preparing for their home race, the upcoming 6 Hours of Imola (21 April).
FIAWEC.com spoke to one of its drivers, Frenchman Jean-Karl Vernay, to get his thoughts on the teams home race and their expectations going into the event with the Tipo6-C Hypercar.
“The competition will be tough thats for sure – especially for us too, as an Italian team,” explained the 36-year-old. “The track itself is very, very impressive. Of course its going to be tight - its very narrow. Its going to be very difficult in traffic, very challenging.
Vernay added: “Theres so many fantastic curves like Acque Mineralli and now it will be good to show our pace after our whole learning experience in Qatar. Our aim is to do much better than in Qatar in qualifying and also in the race. Well see how it goes but I think our car will be able to perform very well on the kerbs, through the fast chicane and in the fast corners. What will be important is to be really aggressive in the traffic, to not lose too much time without taking risks. I think as soon as you will be go off the line its going to be tricky with the LMGT3 cars there too, but I its gonna be super fun and I cant wait!"
