Asian Le Mans Series:Endurance Racing For Asia

Created by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO), the Asian Le Mans Series symbolises the Spirit of Le Mans, holding the same shared passion for creating world class endurance racing in Asia.

The Asian Le Mans Series is becoming the reference endurance racing series in Asia. Delivering highly competitive racing on world class racetracks, last season the Series was watched by a global audience of more than 7 million. The Asian Le Mans Series is growing year on year and is attracting some of the world’s most successful endurance racing teams, as well as fostering new and emerging talent from the region.

Offering the region’s only direct pathway to the world’s most prestigious endurance race – the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Series is also the perfect training ground for those wanting to step up the ACO ladder.

The Asian Le Mans Series is a four round Championship featuring races of four hours in length. For the 2021 Season the Series will visit the Buriram Chang International Circuit, and Sepang International Circuit each for two races.

Eligible cars include LMP2, LMP3, and GT3.

MULTI-CLASS RACING

In the spirit of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Asian Le Mans Series features 4-hour endurance races with driving duties shared by both professional and amateur drivers.

The class structure of the 2021 Asian Le Mans Series will feature a mix of both Le Mans prototype and GT cars, something that is synonymous with Le Mans racing. There will be three classes; LMP2 (including a LMP2 AM classification), LMP3, and GT which will also include a dedicated GT AM classification.

For the 2021 season there will be a change to the cars eligible in both LMP2 AM and LMP3 categories. Only the latest generation LMP2 cars will be eligible to race in both the outright and Am Trophy class. The new season will see the arrival of the latest generation LMP3 machines. Four manufacturers were selected by the ACO take the class forward: Ligier, Duqueine Engineering, Ginetta and Adess.

24 HOURS OF LE MANS –
INVITATIONS

For the 24 Hours of Le Mans to be held in 2021, the invitation process will be different. Invitations for the Asian Le Mans Series will be based on the number of cars fielded in each category.

LMP2 and LMP2 AM combined:

Field of 6 to 11: an invitation for the class winner.
Field of 12 to 17: an invitation for the class winner and the runner-up.
Field of 18 to 23: an invitation for the class winner and second & third places.

LMP3:

The winner of LMP3 is awarded an invitation to the next 24 Hours of Le Mans.

GT:

Field of 4 to 7: an invitation for the class winner.
Field of 8 to 11: an invitation for the class winner and the runner-up.
Field of 12 to 15: an invitation for the class winner and second and third places.
